The Daily Mail reports that the latest Oxford University study has found that the newer hormonal contraceptives regardless of delivery mode “carry the same risk” for developing breast cancer as older alternatives.
Didn’t see that one coming.
The study can be read here and we’re talking about 20% to over 30% increased risk. Oh, by the way, this also applies to those who have recently stopped taking it.
But fret not ladies, there is “no excess risk more than 10 years after stopping” oral contraceptives.
Still, according to Professor Gillian Reeves, one of the authors of the study, “I don’t really see that there’s any indication here to say that women need to necessarily change what they’re doing.”
Well, thanks for clearing that one up.
