Galactic Senate, Coruscant (GNS) – Imperial Maps has updated Alderaan to “Gulf of It’s Just Space and Rocks Now” after Emperor Palpatine issued an executive order renaming the system and its surrounding space.
Alderaan was recently destroyed as part of an imperial weapons test.
The executive order states that “the system formerly known as Alderaan has long been an integral asset to our Republic and now Empire. Its crucial contribution to the successful development of our latest weapons platform is an indelible part of imperial history”.
It also notes that the area now has “bountiful mineral and rocks, natural resources which are vital for the economy”.
The order has been welcomed by some but also criticised by others.
“I do what must be done,” said Palpatine, “I will not hesitate to delete, I mean rename other systems like Alderaan.”
