A Walk Among the Tombstones

● Based on the novel of the same name by Lawrence Block, this film is more noir than a Taken clone but is included here because it stars Liam Neeson. He plays private investigator Matt Scudder who, as noir demands, used to be an alcoholic detective. The story is simple: he is tasked to find some brutal murderers.

● Although not intended to be a “quiet, intense drama”, it is definitely on the quieter and slower side of things. This is partly done to make the eventual action more hard-hitting but then it doesn’t quite deliver either. It’s not a bad film but even for noir, the plotting and pacing could use some improvement.

This mini-review is part of the collection for Taken clones and derivatives.
