New York City, NY – A Chinese family has terminated its diversity policy regarding dinner.
By “family” is meant the husband and father making an unilaterial decision.
“My children tried to convince me that we shouldn’t have Chinese cuisine for dinner every evening,” said Christopher Wang, 55.
Wang’s children, Angela, 21, and Kelvin, 17, are “just sick of it all, especially the plain rice”.
“We just want a little diversity occasionally,” said Angela, “I don’t think some variation is asking for too much. Besides, there is such a thing as habituation.”
Christopher, however, thinks otherwise.
“Look, we’ve tried having other stuff—steak and potatoes, roast chicken, Korean noodles—it just didn’t work,” he said. “Diversity for dinner is radical and endangers the mandatory plain rice.”
Kelvin will try to convince his father that strictly sticking to plain rice increases the probability that Angela might bring home a white guy: “There’re always white people into plain rice cos they think it’s cool to be into Asian food.”
